Dr. Nasim Hedayati is Professor of Surgery in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at University of Texas at Austin Dell School of Medicine. She had previously been at the Unviversity of California, Davis for 17 years where she served as the Chief of Vascular Surgery at Northern California Health Care System-Sacramento VA Medical Center and the Director of the IAC accredited Vein Center at UC Davis Medical Center. Dr. Hedayati is a Distinguished Fellow of both the Society for Vascular Surgery and the American Venous Forum. Her research efforts have focused on outcomes of endovascular and open peripheral arterial disease interventions, treatment of venous disease using the vascular quality initiative database, and stem cell use for critical limb ischemia. She has served and continues to serve on numerous committees of the American Venous Forum, Society for Vascular Surgery, American College of Surgeons, and Vascular Surgery Advisory Board for the Veterans Health Administration National Surgery Office. She has expertise in resident education, having previously served as assistant program director for the integrated vascular surgery residency program at UC Davis School of Medicine. She has mentored countless trainees and junior faculty through her career and her work in the Women in Surgery Committee of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Hedayati also serves as an editor of the Journal of Vascular Surgery-Venous and Lymphatic Disorders.
