Kristine C. Orion, MD

An associate professor, Dr. Orion currently serves as the Director of the Heart and Vascular Outreach Network and Director of the Aortic Center. She was named the Philip Barbour Hardymon Professorship in Surgery. Dr. Orion filled the role of Acting Chief for the Vascular Surgery Division in 2023 and completed a certificate in Managing Health Care Delivery at Harvard Business School that same year. Prior to her arrival here at Ohio State in 2019, she held the title of assistant professor at Yale University. Dr. Orion is board certified in both general and vascular surgery. She has authored over 40 publications and written 15 book chapters. She has been invited to lecture nationally and internationally on her aortic work. Dr. Orion was awarded the Clinical Mastery Excellence Award by our graduating chief residents in 2020. She is the primary investigator for four active clinical trials and was recognized as first in the United States for several landmark events in these trials. Her clinical practice includes a wide breath of vascular surgery with a special interest and extensive experience in open thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair as well as complex lower extremity revascularization.
