John S. Arthur, MD is a retired thoracic and vascular surgeon who has been Director of Surgical Skills and Simulation Training in the University of Washington Vascular Surgery Division for the past 12 years. He was born in Rome, NY, received his AB with Biology major from Dartmouth College, received his MD from Albany Medical College, and completed Straight Surgical Internship and Residency in General and Cardio-Thoracic Surgery in 1975. Following service in the US Navy, he returned to Washington State where he established a private practice of Thoracic and Vascular Surgery in 1977, retiring from clinical practice in 2012. In 2013, he joined the Vascular Surgery Division at the University of Washington where he is now a Clinical Associate Professor.
